Srinagar, Jan 18: Residents of Galwan Pora have complained that some people have encroached upon drainage network in the locality resulting in overflow of sewage even into a graveyard.
“This continuous flow of water has resulted in serious damages to the graveyard and now even the nearby houses have started gathering dampness,” said Fatima Banu, a resident.
“Before it’s too late, we’ll sell our house here and migrate elsewhere,” said Rabia Khan while showing the dampness at her house. She added that stench has added to their woes. “We cannot even use our washrooms. Now our houses are full of mess,” said Aasiya Bano adding it was difficult to cook amid so much of stench.
The locals said even though the matter was brought into the notice of the concerned including district administration of Budgam, results were awaited.
When contacted Chief Sanitation Officer Srinagar Municipal Corporation Manzoor Ahmed said the matter would be looked into.
“We will solve this issue on priority… Let’s first look into the complaints of drainage and encroachments,” he added.
