Thieves on prowl in Lal Bazar

Srinagar, Jan 18: Lal Bazar residents said there has been a surge in thefts in the area with burglars in the latest striking a house in Budshah Mohalla.
The locals said thefts are on the rise in the locality and they have started feeling insecure. “Thieves carry daggers along with them to frighten the people… Some months back they attacked a domestic help with sharp edged weapons,” the locals said.
“Burglars are operating in an organized manner. Besides looting the people they are harassing them while police has failed to nab the culprits,” the locals said.
When contacted Station House Officer (SHO) Lal Bazar Police Station Syed Mubarik said there was no big issue but that only one theft had taken place in the area.
“There is no such worrying situation. One theft took place just yesterday that too when the family had been away from their house for three days,” the SHO said adding that an FIR has been filed.
Meanwhile the locals have appealed the SSP Srinagar Amit Kumar to get night patrolling intensified in the area.
