Srinagar, Jan 27: An important meeting of district presidents of J&K lecturers’ forum was held Tuesday to discuss and deliberate upon present status and functioning of the department.
It was held under the chairmanship of State President of All J&K Plus 2 Lecturers Forum, Dr Manzor Ahmad.
It was felt that the functioning of the department was showing a declining trend since the model code of conduct was imposed in the state. Dr Manzoor advocated in strong words that the department is in shambles and present bureaucratic dispensation is responsible for its deteriorating condition.
He highlighted some issues towards which higher ups in helm of affairs have shown callous approach. “Posting of CEO’s, DIET principals has rendered many districts headless. It is pertinent to mention that some principals were elevated as incharge CEO’s six months before but their posting has not been so far excepting some blue eyed, creating chaos and confusion in the functioning of the department,” he said.
In the year 2013 some lectures were elevated as Sr lecturers as per strict seniority but some of them were challenged in the court of law. From till date department has failed to file objections and get the matter resolved. “A number of important files pertaining to promotion of Sr lecturers as principals, teachers/masters as I/C lecturers are accumulating dust in the civil secretariat. The concerned are not bothered to realize the importance of filling up of these posts lying vacant in Hr sec schools across the state which has hampered the teaching learning process,” said Dr Manzoor.
Dr Manzoor stressed upon the concerned to mobilize their resources and address all the pending issues so that otherwise sinking boat of the education department is brought back on rails. He appealed governor to intervene and gear up the department for restoring its lost glory.
