Employees demand release of GP fund, allowance

We seek our own money, not alms: EJAC-K

IRFAN RASHID

Srinagar, Feb 5: The Employees Joint Action Committee (EJAC-K) Thursday protested against delay in release of GP fund, 17 percent increase in Dearness Allowance (DA), non-regularization of Anganwadi workers and privatizing of Consumer Affairs and Public Distribution (CAPD) department.
Addressing a gathering of employees, EJAC (K) president, Mushtaq Ahmad Khan said, “The homes of our employees were damaged by flood and five months have passed since we applied for our own earned GP funds but still government is acting as if we are begging the money.”
He demanded regularization of fair price shop dealers, Anganwadi workers and daily wagers.

Lending full support to the suspended president of Doctors Association Kashmir (DAK), Dr Nisar-ul-Hassan, he said: “Dr Nisar has been victimized for raising issues of public concern and his suspension is simply a means to deter him from speaking out on legitimate grievances because he unearthed infamous spurious drug scam which killed hundreds of precious lives and his endeavours in this connection should have been applauded rather than unleashing reign of terror against him. He has been raising voice against corruption, nepotism and favouritism in health care which is responsible for its mess and has adversely affected patient care.”

He opposed Food Security Bill saying it was good for states like Bihar not jammu and Kashmir.
The EJAC (K) president also slammed proposed privatization of electricity in J&K, saying if electricity is privatized, the common man would suffer.
