Srinagar, Feb 19:With Valley witnessing fresh snowfall and continual rainfall, sales of the umbrella have also picked up.
Variety of umbrellas has been put on sale at various shops and stalls where customers are making beelines. The multi-colour umbrellas are sold at Amira Kadal, Lal Chowk, Regal Chowk, Hari Singh High Street and Batamaloo.
“When I got out of the bus it was snowing fast and I was compelled to buy this new black umbrella at Amira Kadal for Rs 180,” said a student, Ishafaq Hussain.
These umbrella sellers were disappointed earlier due to mostly dry weather which had kept the sales of the umbrella low.
“I purchased umbrellas for nearly Rs 1 lakh and till date due to dry winter I could recover only Rs 30000. Now from last few days, I’m making a good business,” said Khalid Bashir, an umbrella seller in Batamaloo.
Small children were seen on roads insisting their parents to get them colorful umbrellas only.
“My daughter Shaista didn’t move an inch at an umbrella seller at Batamallo after she saw colorful umbrellas. I had to buy one for her,” said Gulshana Bano
