SRINAGAR: The 12th Class students of Biscoe Srinagar protested on Tuesday here in Press Enclave against school authorities for allegedly detaining their admit cards and demanding extra four months fee.
The examination for 12th class will be started from 4th march onwards. These students had already submitted their yearly fee in advance ranging from Rs 38000 for already admitted and Rs 55000 for newly entrants.
Recently the government had also notified all the schools not to ask students’ monthly fee for September but Biscoe has allegedly flouted those norms. “We have submitted full year fee in advance and schools instead of repaying this month’s fee, are asking for more fee.”
The reason given by school authorities for extra fee of December, January, February and march is because of change of exam cycle that has cost the school extra charges, protesting students said.
The students of medical stream have been allegedly asked to pay Rs 9000 and those with medical plus math have been asked to pay Rs 12000.
“We are nearly 1000 students in all their branches in 12th and if everyone pays that counts to nearly one crore rupees,” said agitating students.
When contacted Muneer, incharge 12th, he denied to be the concerned authority and asked to call school landline, not his personal phone.
Some lady official from Biscoe landline replied: “I don’t want to comment about this all which is inside matter of school.”
Later Director School Education, Showkat Beigh told Rising Kashmir: “I have deputed Chief Education Officer Srinagar along with Joint director education to sort out the matter today.”
