‘Dislodged 36 year old NC culture’
BUDGAM: With the Ghulam Nabi (Hanjura) Lone taking the oath as the minister on Sunday, people of Charari sharief constituency began celebrating their jubilations.
It was a confluence of emotions at Hanjoora that houses residence of Lone in Chadora tehsil. All roads Sunday were leading to the delirious place as Lone was given cabinet berth. Braving March chill, the supporters frequently talked on cell phones to know the rank given to their leader. People preferred watching live Oath ceremony infront of their television sets to the Pakistan World cup match against Zimbabwe. The young Tech-savvy supporters took to social media for congratulating Mr Lone. Dr Nazir Ahmad Sheikh wrote on facebook timeline of Lone: “Thank God…After all we have done it. Mubarak to people in general and workers in particular of char constituency on induction of Lone sb as cabinet minister. We thank Mufti saib on behalf of people of char constituency.” Another supporter Mir Javid wrote: “congratulations sir you deserve this sir. Ur hardwork proved ur strength.” The win of Lone was special for the people of charari sharief when
Lone stopped the continuous winning streak of Former Finance minister, Abdul Rahim rather with more than 5000 votes. Rather was winning continuously the constituency since 1977 in six terms and people desperately wanted a change. “When these leaders win constantly, their working culture gets rust, so change was must here,” said Sunain, a local student. Earlier, the constituency was represented by NC leader Bakshi Abdul Rashid in 1957 and 1962 and Congress leader Abdul Quyoom in 1967 and 1972. Lone unsuccessfully contested 2002 and 2008 elections on PDP ticket.
The aggravated trader and farmer community associated very high hopes with the Lone addressing their problems on priority. “He will have to shoulder a huge responsibility to serve the people now,” said Farooq Ahmad, a trader. Official sources added from Jammu that Lone will straight away start working on incomplete projects in his constituency among whom Charari Sharief Grand Mosque is also included which Rising Kashmir also highlighted recently.
