Four shopkeepers arrested for black marketing

SRINAGAR: Four shopkeepers have been arrested in Harwan for allegedly black marketing essential commodities which were in short supply due to closure of the Jammu-Srinagar National Highway for few days.
“Four shopkeepers were arrested and booked under Violation of essential commodities act for indulging in black marketing of essential items in Harwan area of Srinagar district,” SHO Harwan Zahoor Ahmad said. An FIR has been registered in Police Station Harwan Srinagar vide FIR No. 16,17,18 and 19/2015. The four shopkeepers include a Butcher namely Mohammad Rajab Ganaie S/O Ab Raheem ganaie R/O Batpora TelBal, a Baker namely Gh Qadir Sufi S/O Mohammad Abdullah Sofi R/O Shalimar, a chicken seller namely Shabir Ahmad Wani S/O Gh Hassan Wani R/O Shalimar (Originally Khrew), a chicken seller namely Tariq Ahmad Wani S/O Gh Ahmad wani R/O Shalimar. He said special checking squad against black marketing under SHO Harwan was formed after reports of overcharging were received from various quarters. Divisional Commissioner Kashmir had directed the concerned authorities to ensure that the traders of essential commodities display the rate list prominently.
