Minister for Youth Services and Sports, Information Technology and Technical Education, Imran Raza Ansari Saturday said the way their government should have worked for sports is not satisfactorily and they have failed here.
The minister was addressing the inaugural functions of Khyber Super Division Big Premier League organized by JK Football Association being played on football synthetic turf at TRC.
States best football teams including Lone Star, JK Bank, JK Police, Arfaat Sports, Iqbal Sports, Maharaja Sports, Food and Supplies, JK SRTC and Forest Eleven are participating in the league.
The first match played between JK Bank and Lone Star Football club ended in a draw. The match began at 6 pm and ended at 7:30 pm.
This league shall feature participation of three divisions. In super division 15 teams, 17 teams in A division and 62 teams in B division will participate in the league.
Each team shall play seven matches and the final match is scheduled to be on September 10.
“India has given many benefits but we were not able to harness them properly.
The minister was recently in news regarding JKCA elections. “We should leave politics when coming to sports and just try to do our duty,” he said.
He said: “Football is in my DNA.”
He claimed to give everything for betterment of football in the state and announced Rs 30 lakh to be released soon for this ground.
The Minister lauded the initiatives of Football Association for organizing such events and urged it to organize these events with regular periodicity.
He assured them every possible support from the government for purchasing of sports equipments and providing services of coaches.
 “Much time has been wasted during the past regime and our youth could not fully participate in sports activities during that time,” Minister maintained and opined that the new generation could achieve laurels for themselves.
Kashmir has a history of producing renowned persons in every sphere of life.
He said there is no dearth of talent among youth of the state.
Waheed ur Rehman Para, political analyst in CM’s Office, Director General, Youth Services & Sports, Jehangir Mir, members of Sports Council besides senior officers of concerned departments were present on the occasion.
