Chief Engineer, Beacon, Brigadier AK Das Tuesday asserted Beacon has earmarked Rs 6,000 Cr for next 15 years for developmental projects in Jammu and Kashmir.
While addressing a press conference at its headquarters at Rangreth, Brigadier said that 4,000 kms of roads in the State have been constructed by the beacon in the last 55 years.

He said 4 lane road from Tata motors to HMT shall be opened in this month.
Giving details about the completed projects, he said, “Beacon has contributed a lot in terms of construction of lifelines like road Jammu-Srinagar, Uri-Leh, Batote-Anantnag, Baramulla-Tangdhar, Sumbal-Kaobalgali, Kupwara-Machhal, Kupwara-karen and Handwara-Kaiyan.”
He said: “We are engaged in double lane projects of NH1, NH244 and NH701. We are also constructing snow bound specification roads to the remote areas along LoC viz Keran sector, Machal, Gureiz valley and Kaobalgali. We are working on 1800 km road network in remote areas.”
