There is no end to problems of flood victims many of whom have been asked to apply for re-verification of damage assessment for the release of flood rehabilitation compensation.
A delegation of residents from different areas of city like Babademb, Habbakadal, Fatehkadal, Mandir Bagh and Jawahar Nagar alleged that they were being dragged by the authorities for re-applying for flood compensation.
The residents revealed despite completing all the formalities the authorities were delaying release of their relief amount.
“Just a month back they told us that our case is complete and our compensation amount will be released soon but now they are asking us to apply for damage assessment again,” a delegation of residents from Fateh Kadal area said.
They added: “We have already gone through re-verifying process. For past one year now we are being asked to run from one office to another, one place to another but all in vain.”
The residents alleged that the authorities were deliberately putting them to huge inconvenience.
“We are living in a rented room. We received a cheque of Rs. 3800 as relief compensation. We were not provided with any other help or assistance.” Gh Muhammad Shafi of Mandir Bagh area said.
“We are around 90 families who lost everything to floods but we have not received any help from the government yet,” a group of residents from Habbakadal locality said.
These Flood affected people have appealed to the administration to release their compensation funds.
