Rains turn NYC members feverish

Hunger strike enters day 22

Due to incessant rain on Tuesday, scores of National Youth Corps (NYC) members suffered from fever and were later hospitalized on their 22th hunger strike day.
They were eagerly waiting from the morning after they received inputs that Finance Minister Haseeb Drabu would be arriving in the Pratap Park—venue of their hunger strike. But to their dismay, the reports turned wrong and they were disappointed.
State President NYC, Asif Ali Bhat said nearly 200 females had also gathered in view of the minister’s arrival message but due to rain our tents went wet and many members were hospitalized as fever gripped them.
Both the male and female members of the NYC spent their full day in damp tents which turned many as feverish.
“Now the question is where will our brothers sleep in the night who have been on hunger strike for weeks; on sodden blankets or damp ground which is full of water,” said Tawheed Sidiq, female NYC.
They are hell bent on their decision to celebrate the Eid in the Pratap Park if the ruling government would not come with any concrete decision.
